5th Grade is a great year. Students in 5th grade are the “Kings and Queens” of their elementary schools. They are anxious to enter middle school but not quite ready. At RiverTree, we find that 5th graders are a little too old for TreeHouse Kidz and a little too young for our Middle School Ministry stuff, so we gave them a space just to be themselves and transition at a pace they prefer.
We give 5th graders the opportunity to be in a weekend gathering designed for 5-6-7th graders called FUSE. Click here to find out about it. In addition to Fuse, 5th graders get to experience an overnight 24 hour retreat called March Madness, in the month of… you guessed it, March. Plus we have some service and mission opportunities for families in the summer.
The point is, we want to give 5th graders the luxury of adjusting and assimilating at their own pace. Each student develops differently so we have done our very best to create a ministry to them that is flexible and gives them all sorts of chances to transition to middle school.
One final thought….. students going from 5th grade to 6th grade are included in our middle school ministry stuff during the summer, including our week long camp WildSide. Be on the look out for more info nearer that time!
